Week 3
Reflection
This week I went to Lynda.com to found some more tutorials. I have used this site for other adobe products and it may be boring but it does help to learn new programs. I started one tutorial and it is about the very basics. The whole set of videos is 14 chapters and has a lot of information that I may need and may not need.
Successes
For this week I was successful with getting started with Lynda with no issues and finding a good tutorial. I started it and knew some of the information already which helps reassure me that I understand what is actually going on and not just copying what they do.
Obstacles/Problems
The only problem I ran into was that the files for the videos took forever to download because of how much there is. I cant't do anything about it so I just had to do some work at home.
Plan for next week
My plan for next week is just to keep watching the videos and skip around to find new information.
Thoughts and Feelings
Starting off the week I felt pretty confident in my current progress and I still feel that way. I started adobe products before and felt like I had 0 idea what i was doing (InDesign) but I don't have the same feeling. Having already learned some products some things carry over so it helps when learning Premier Pro.
Mentor
My mentor for this project is my older brother Cameron who I have seen editing videos all the time for the past few years. I told him about my project when I picked out what I wanted to do and he said he could help me with any questions I had. I called him this weekend and he told me a few things. The first thing was that even though the program looks complicated, you really only use half of the stuff and it is not that bad. The next thing was to just watch tutorials on youtube or whatever platform I find them on because that is how he learned by himself. The last thing he told me was a few specific things about editing and some weird things it does with audio and transition. He also told me about some methods he used with cutting, starting, and ending a video.
